25th Anniversary and Thai New Year 2556 Print E-mail

Reka’s Thai Restaurant is the first Thai restaurant in Westchester County when they opened their doors on July 1985 in Mohegan Lake. Her White Plains branch of this restaurant was opened on December 1987.

We celebrated the beginning of our 25th Anniversary by having a Thai blessing ceremony with three monks and a few friends on Saturday, December 1, 2011 at Reka’s Thai Restaurant in White Plains.

The 2556th Thai New Year Celebration

“Songkran”

April 13, 2013

Thailand celebrates Thai New year for three days. The first day is for cleaning up and getting ready, the second day is to pay respect to their elders by bringing gifts and to receive blessings, and the third day is to celebrate by having a feast at the temple, giving the Buddha statue a bath, and to pour purfumed water on each other.

Thai food with special meaningful names for good health and properity are prepared and served. We are planning a special event for our customers at Reka's Thai Restaurant.

Traditional Feast with Thai Orchids for the Ladies.

Happy New Year!

10% of the proceeds from all special dishes will be donated to White Plains Kiwanis Club for The Children Programs.

The Traditional Thai New Year Feast is designed to offer blessings to the guests. Dishes served symbolize longevity, prosperity, and happiness.
